What we hold, and why.
Plain language, no legal fog. Here is exactly what we collect, who touches it, and how to make us delete it.
The short version
We ask for as little as we can. We use it to send you what you ordered and what you asked for. We don't sell it. If you ever want to know what we hold about you, or want it gone, email us and we'll sort it out.
The rest of this page is the long version, written plainly.
Who we are
Flora Vida is a plant-based wellness brand — recipes, juices, education, and a small shop of made-to-order pieces. This policy covers livefloravida.com, including the Spanish version of the site at /espanol, our shop and checkout, and our newsletter.
What we collect
What you give us.
- When you order: your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, and the details of what you bought.
- When you subscribe: your email address, and your first name if you give it.
- When you write to us: whatever you put in the message — your name, your email, and what you wanted to talk about.
- If you create an account: your email, a password we never see in plain text, and your order history.
What your browser gives us automatically. Your IP address, the kind of device and browser you're using, which pages you looked at, and roughly where in the world you are. This is ordinary web-server information — every website receives it.
What we never collect. Your full card number never touches this website. When you pay, your card details go straight to our payment processor over an encrypted connection. We receive confirmation that you paid, the last four digits, and the card type — nothing more. We cannot see your card number, and we could not hand it to anyone if we tried.
Why we use it
- To make and deliver your order. This is the main one, and it's the reason we have to pass your name and address to the partner who prints and ships your item.
- To keep you posted — your confirmation, your receipt, a note when it ships, and tracking.
- To answer you when you write in.
- To send the newsletter, but only if you asked for it. It's one click to stop.
- To keep the shop honest — spotting fraudulent orders and abuse.
- To keep our books. Invoices and order records, because a business is required to keep them.
- To make the site better. Knowing which recipes people actually read tells us what to write next.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it or rent it out. If that ever changed, we would ask you first — not bury it in an update.
Who else touches your information
A small shop runs on a handful of services. Each one sees only the part of your information it needs to do its job, and none of them are permitted to use it for their own purposes:
- Our print and fulfilment partner receives your name, your shipping address, and what you ordered. Without this, nobody can make your shirt or put it in the post.
- Our payment processor receives your payment and billing details directly, and handles them under its own security standards.
- Our email service holds your address so we can send order emails and, if you subscribed, the newsletter.
- Our website host stores the site and its database, which is where your order lives.
- The shipping carrier gets your address, so it can knock on your door.
We may also disclose information if the law genuinely requires it, or to protect someone's safety. And if Flora Vida were ever sold or merged, your information would move with the business — and this policy would move with it.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website leaves in your browser so it can remember things. Ours fall into three groups:
- Necessary — remembering what's in your cart, keeping you signed in, and holding your session together through checkout. Turn these off and the shop stops working.
- Preference — remembering that you chose to read the site in Spanish.
- Analytics — counting visits and pages so we can see what's useful. These are about patterns, not about you personally.
Your browser can block or delete cookies whenever you like, in its settings. Blocking the necessary ones will break the cart, but nothing on this site will punish you for it.
How long we keep things
- Order records: seven years, because that's what tax and accounting rules expect of a business.
- Newsletter subscription: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep a note that you unsubscribed, so we don't accidentally add you back.
- Messages you send us: about two years, so we still have the thread if you write again.
- Analytics: aggregated, and not tied to your name.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from any newsletter using the link at the bottom of it. It works immediately.
- Ask what we hold about you, and we'll send you a copy.
- Ask us to fix it if something is wrong.
- Ask us to delete it. We will — except for order records we're legally required to keep, and we'll tell you exactly what's left and why.
- Change your mind about consent at any time, without giving a reason.
Email hello@livefloravida.com and we'll come back to you within 30 days. There is no charge for any of this, and asking will never change how you're treated as a customer.
If you live in California, you have specific rights to know what is collected about you, to have it deleted, and not to be treated differently for asking — the paragraph above is how you use them. We do not sell personal information as California law defines that term. If you live in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you have equivalent rights under the GDPR, including the right to receive your information in a portable form and to complain to your local supervisory authority. When we ship to you outside the United States, your information travels to the US, where this site and its services are hosted.
Security
The whole site runs over an encrypted connection, passwords are stored scrambled rather than readable, and access to the shop's back end is limited to the people who run it. No website can promise perfection, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. What we can promise is that we hold as little as possible — so there is less to lose.
Children
This site is meant for adults, and we don't knowingly collect anything from a child under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we'll remove it.
Other people's websites
We link out — to research, to articles, to social platforms. The moment you follow a link you're on someone else's site, under someone else's policy, and we have no control over what they do there.
Changes to this policy
If we change something meaningful we'll update the effective date at the top and, when it matters, tell subscribers directly. We won't quietly rewrite it.
